Are you or your loved one struggling to navigate the complex hospital system with your terminal illness?

You’re not alone.

abundantly heard you are not alone
As a support person with a medical background, I can give you the peace of mind you’re craving.

Here are some of the ways I can assist:

  • flowerKnowing what to ask for and say during appointments to meet your goals of care.
  • flowerDocumenting what was communicated during appointments so that all your loved ones are kept informed.
  • flowerSupporting you to take your power back and stop feeling confused, overpowered or belittled.
  • flowerOn rare occasions, I may be able to assist with transportation.

This service is perfect for clients whose kids might live out of town or who don’t have a lot of support at hand.

If you’re a family member of someone terminally ill, it’s easy to feel terrible if you can’t help the way you want to.

I know what this is like as I was living in a different city to my Dad when he was diagnosed with cancer and the frustration over not being able to help in the way I felt called to was so difficult.

Having someone support and advocate for your family member takes the load off you knowing that your beloved family member is being looked after the way they deserve.

My goal is that you finally feel heard, understood, and that your goals are met.

The reason I feel called to do this work is because I know firsthand what a disaster our medical system is.

Medical appointments are rushed and many have a hard time feeling heard at these appointments. Speaking to medical providers and having your needs met is a common frustration.

Completing a medical appointment feels like a whirlwind which often ends with the uncertainty of what to do next.

The process

Getting to know you

We’ll have a session ahead of time to find out your medical history, why you are going to the appointment and your goals once you get to the appointment – what are you really after? Plus what do you want long-term?

This way we make sure we are on the same page and have a united front before the day of the appointment.

On the day of the appointment

I’ll be with you for the duration of the appointment time, including for labs, imaging, etc.. that may be needed following the appointment. I’ll be focused on meeting the goals we’ve laid out for your appointment. I know what to ask and I don’t give up. You’ll get the answers you’ve been desperately seeking and leave your appointment without the frustration you’ve been experiencing.

After the appointment

I’ll document everything that was discussed with your medical team and pass it on to your designated contact person. I am available to speak to your loved ones to answer any follow-up questions or concerns they may have so that everyone feels they understand the situation. You’re welcome to book me to come to your next appointment in the future or keep it as a one-off. This way we make sure we are on the same page and have a united front before the day of the appointment.

What area(s) do you work in?

This service is available for anyone in the Seattle area. For those outside the area, please inquire as I may be available for a travel fee.

How does it work?

I will attend a one-off appointment and the pricing would be tailored to what the therapy looks like. For example, cancer patients may have a 6-hour appointment to get labs done, see their oncologist and have their treatment. Please get in touch to talk more about your needs and get a custom quote.
