Frequently Asked Questions

How do your coaching sessions work? Do we need to meet in-person?
We can meet in person at my office or we can meet virtually – your choice!  Coaching sessions are 1 hour and we will go as fast or slow as you like to resolve your questions and needs.
I’m looking for in-person personal advocacy. What areas do you service?
I live in the Seattle area, therefore I am available for
How long do most people need coaching for?
I tend to be pretty direct so depending on your goals this can be as quick as 1 session or for others it can be 3 months. I do have some clients that prefer an ongoing check in so they dictate the schedule. I feel like most clients know after one session what amount of time they will need.
What kinds of situations do you help with?
I primarily work with terminal diagnosis and end of life which usually surrounds goals of care and quality of life.  Many of my client’s have a cancer diagnosis with an uncertain future.  Prognosis is often a topic that comes up.  I have a subset of clients with neurodegenerative disorders and another subset who are already on hospice.
I want my family member(s) to get coaching but they’re resistant. What do I do?
This is such a great question and perfectly defines what coaching is all about!  The key piece is exploring what is at the root of that question, what barriers are in place and applying language for moving forward.  This list goes on but there is so much deeply buried in this question that you may be surprised at what you are really asking.  I would suggest booking a coaching session either alone or with your family member.
What are your qualifications?
I am a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner, Doctor of Nursing Practice, and Board Certified in Family Practice. I come from a first responder background and have been in healthcare for more than 20 years.  I currently care for palliative care patients at a major cancer institute in the Seattle area.
